This variety needs daily brushing as its hair's long and the coat is actually fine and double. When the dog sheds the coat needs more grooming. The wooly undercoat becomes matted if neglected. The dog should be bathed frequently and the skin of the hairless dog must be massaged with oil or cream.

The dogs are very clean, with no doggie odor and are not prone to fleas or ticks. There are two types of the breed, the one is hairless and therefore does not need grooming at all; and the other that is called the Power Puff needs a lot more grooming.
