The coat has a soft and silky texture, flowing to any length. Placement of hair is not as important as overall type. Wherever the body is hairless, the skin should be soft and smooth that is why when you walk with the dog outside it is necessary to use lotion to keep the skin protected.

There are two varieties within the breed. The first one is a hairless variety that has hair only on certain portions of the body: the head (called a crest), the tail (called a plume) and the feet from the toes to the front pasterns and rear hock joints (called socks).
